Call to Action

Keep Abortion Funding Out of Healthcare Reform

Contact these legislators and urge them to oppose the pro-abortion Senate-passed health care bill or any other bill that does not contain the Stupak Amendment!

As we all know, the House may soon consider the Senate Health Care bill that is littered with pro-abortion language that includes federal mandates and subsidies for abortion. Even proponents who once voted for or advocated for passage of the House health care reform bill concede that the abortion language in the Senate bill is a deal-breaker that cannot be reconciled. Now our attention needs to be focused on the House as they may consider taking up the bill as soon as next week. House lawmakers that are considering voting for the Senate bill need to know that the bill they are about to vote on contains a long list of abortion policy problems that make their upcoming vote the most consequential on life issues since Roe v. Wade.

An NRLC synopsis describes seven separate pro-abortion components in the 2,407-page Senate bill, including provisions that would allow direct federal funding of abortion, federal subsidies to help purchase private insurance that covers abortion, and federal regulations that would expand access to abortion.

Please contact House members to oppose the Senate Health Care bill. Here is a list of members that comes from the House and Senate Republican Whip Offices who “believe House passage of the Senate’s health care bill will ultimately be decided by the 37 remaining House Democrats who voted NO to a government take-over last November, and the following 21 House Democrats who originally voted YES, but may now be on the fence…” - Michael Arcuri (NY)
