Support the Federal Marriage Amendment

"The marriage bond, in which man and woman together constitute a life-long association, ordered by its very nature for the good of the spouses and the generation and education of children," is the basis of the family, the heritage and shared wealth of humanity. "Thus the Church cannot cease to announce that, in accordance with God's plans, marriage and the family are irreplaceable and admit no alternatives."
Pope Benedict XVI

Marriage Amendment Introduced in Senate

Saying that activist judges are attempting to redefine one of our nation’s most sacred institutions, U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today introduced the Marriage Protection Act, which would amend our Constitution to declare that marriage is a union between one man and one woman.

“19 states have passed laws and 26 states have amended their constitution to protect traditional marriage,” Sen. Wicker said.  “Rather than giving unelected activist judges the opportunity to legislate from the bench, this amendment will reaffirm what most Americans believe – marriage is between a man and a woman.”

Protecting Marriage is a non-negotiable issue for Catholics. Ask your Catholic legislator to sponsor the Federal Marriage Amendment.

Marriage Amendment Introduced in House

Title: Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relating to marriage.

On May 22, Congressman Paul Broun, M.D., introduced a constitutional amendment to protect the traditional institution of marriage from re-definition by state or federal judges.  Broun’s “Marriage Protection Amendment” wias offered in response to the recent 4-3 decision by the California Supreme Court which redefined ‘marriage’ to include legal unions formed between homosexuals. The California Supreme Court’s decision to recognize same-sex marriages is viewed by many legal scholars as an activist decision in which the policy preferences of four justices overturned the democratically expressed will of California’s voters.
